In 1943, there were already at least seven factories that were manufacturing this rifle. Each subsequent year, other manufacturers were joining in, while some stopped manufacturing the gun and began to deal with the production of other guns such as machine guns, automatic pistols and other handguns that were necessary. After 1934 the Mauser company Oberndorf was the only one manufacturing K98 rifles.

The factory for the Mauser Oberndorf and the company JP Sauer & Sohn in Suhl. In 1934 only two manufacturers were authorized to manufacture the K98. This makes the Mauser K98 one of the best guns with a great collectors' value for gun collectors of WW2 and perhaps of all time. For 11 years more than 14 million units were produced, and out of the 14 million units produced there are more than 100 combinations of made guns. It was used until the end of the war - in May 1945. In June 1934, the German army adopted the Mauser 98 Karbiner as the standard rifle of the German army.
